Even prior to the release date of October 27, 2020 was revealed at Classic gold Gamescom 2020, there was a sense that World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was quickly approaching. Patch 9.0, that will bring along the pre-expansion event along together, you know, the growth itself, has been around the PTR (Public Test Realm) for nearly a month , so it is going to make its way to reside servers daily now.
But at the same time, the fact that Activision-Blizzard waited this long to announce that the release date meant that I was somewhat worried that some of the more bombastic expansion launches -- such as that of this maligned Fight For Azeroth -- were a thing of the past. However, Blizzard just introduced the Bastion animated short, the very first portion of the Afterlives series, which will see new episodes for each of those Covenants at Shadowlands leading up to launch.
And for anybody that has invested a great deal of time with the sport, and what's more, has paid any amount of attention to the story, will find a lot to love in this cinematic. Here, see it now, because I will be spoiling the entire thing here.
The entire shtick of this video show seems to be moving through all the covenants, and Bastion is themed around the Kyrian covenant in, well, Bastion. If you want a way more in-depth guide to everything the Kyrian Covenant provides, Wowhead has you covered there,
But a bunch of angels shepherding the spirits of the dead to where they belong in the Shadowlands is pretty much exactly what I expected from a minumum of one of those covenants in Shadowlands, therefore what really blew me was that characters were chosen to illustrate the covenant's purpose.
Blizzard based the introduction into the Kyrian covenant around Uther the Lightbringer, who is among the most critical characters in all Warcraft. Not only was that this dude the initial paladin, but he was also the instructor of Arthas Menethil, probably the most well-known villain in Warcraft history -- you may know him as the Lich King.
From the animation, Uther's soul arrives on the doorstep of this Kyrian in Bastion, as there's some kind of afterlife sorting system that places souls where they belong into the Shadowlands. However, Uther can't forego his life, and he thirsts for justice. He's chastised for this for a while before Devos, the Paragon watching over him, notices that his soul is wounded from Frostmourne, the Lich King's blade
I could probably go into super-deep detail about why some of the matters, but I will save myself the effort, and also you the agony of digging through it. And, Arthas, who has caused so much harm, by apparently directing the cheap wow gold classic power of the maw, was cast into that wicked place by the soul of his youth teacher who expired with his blade.
